Sterilization

There is no way to guaranty body jewelry will remain sterile between packaging and shipping. No one can say this truthfully. If your changing a healed piercing at home, you probably don't need to sterilize it. All you need to do is disinfect it. The best way to disinfect body jewelry at home is to soak it in rubbing alcohol, or boil it for 15 minutes this will get rid of 99.9% of germs. At minimum washing with an anti-bacterial soap is necessary.

However, if this is an unhealed piercing you should sterilize it by going to a piercing studio and asking them to autoclave it for you for a small price. Only an autoclave can make anything 100% sterile.
